3 Simple Ways To Dramatically Declutter

Spread the love

Quick confession: I’m having a hard time focusing on this today.

It’s partly because I’ve been busy prepping for the launch of my new “total life organization” program,Β Power House Ultimate, (yes, that was my first reveal of the title!)

It’s like time management meets home organization and has a life simplification baby.Β So exciting!

Buuuut it’s also because I’ve been distracted with home stuff. We’re about to kick off a bathroom remodel, I’m getting used to an entirely new routine with my boys back AND I’ve been on a decluttering FRENZY.

Yup, I’m a decluttering mad woman right now.

Have you ever started clearing out one area, seen great results and then gotten…addicted?

It’s a little bizarre. Every corner I see, I find something I can get rid of, repurpose or donate. I can’t stop myself! Even my kids are saying: “mom, what are you taking out now!”

But then I’ll hit a road bump. A place where I have to make some super tough choices. And I waiver. And I think, and overthink.

Until I remind myself of the lessons I teach right here, all the time.

So today I’m going to tell you about one of the types of clutter that can really bog me down. But with practice and a good ole’ dose of rationale, I’m getting over it.

I’m very excited to share this with you and would LOVE to hear which one of the three tips you could use to eliminate this type of clutter in your life too.

So puh-lease c’mon join me in the comments and help inspire me and others!

I’m so thankful for you!

xoxo,Β Mridu

Knitting! I learned how to knit and then bought books on knitting, all types of knitting supplies and a lot of wool yarn. While I found it interesting at the time, I haven’t done it in years. I think this is something I can really think seriously about decluttering. If I want a knit sweater it is cheaper to buy than get all the materials for. Who has the time to knit a sweater!

How true!!! Love you videos – even my 11yr and 13yr old children look forward to your weekly updates – so funny πŸ™‚

Yeah been there done that! When I was much “younger” πŸ™‚ I went all out for crochet AND needlepoint. I took classes and bought books galore, that lasted about 2 years and back in July we had a large family yard sale so I went thru my house and tore out all my storage areas. Needless to say there was crochet and needlepoint STUFF! So I think my choice would be to make do with what you have or invest in used to start with and live with it a while till your positive this is important enough to invest more into. Love your videos and advice.

Terry, I totally understand!! I only mentioned my scrapbooking in the video…not my gym equipment or my cooking aspirations! πŸ™‚ It’s okay to have had an intention at one time…and not anymore! πŸ˜‰ thanks for sharing! xo, mridu

LOL! Love hearing that! When I first started, a couple videos had some “adult language” — but now that I know kids are watching too (including my niece!) I try to keep them PG. πŸ˜‰
And thank you for the compliment and for all your support Steph! xo, mridu

Robbie, that’s a great tip I didn’t include: “invest in used.” There’s a ton of stuff you could get at yard sales or Craigslist for just a fraction of the store price. A great way to start until you know you’re vested.
Thank you for your support Robbie! I love making these vids for you! πŸ™‚ xo, mridu

Ha!!! I call myself a ‘cardmaker’ (NOT a Scrapbooker! lol…) When scrapbooking was super hot, that you could hop from store to store. I started making cards and buying supplies, and though I was conservative, I collected quite a lot of supplies over time. I made a bunch od cards and loved it, had a blog and all, but last time I made my last 2 cards was over 2 years ago. Thing is that I Loooooooove my punches and machines and stamps and ribbons and papers and… and… and…
I have to say that most of it is organized and put away, but not being used and loved. I think that time is coming to make a decision.
Perhaps as I become more organized I can get back to the cards, or I will get rid of everything. Ai Ai Ai… Mridu, You’d better be in my corner! lol
By the way, thak you for all of the motivation, your videos and workshops are great!!!

Mridu

Rosana, don’t be so hard on yourself! Sounds like you invested in stuff that really was a hobby you too seriously…I mean blogged about it and all! And I think you’re right. Hopefully as clear out other areas of your life, you’ll have time to get back to your card making passion. How awesome would that be?! Actually, I’m getting pretty excited about it? Maybe that’s something to think about regularly to keep you motivated to keep getting organized! πŸ˜‰ And thank YOU so much for continuous support. I LOVE hearing from you (and others) and honestly, that’s what keeps me motivated to keep creating. Love you so much! xo, mridu
