What used to embarrass me, now makes me chuckle.
When friends would come over to my house, they’d expect my closets, pantry and drawers to be perrr-fect.
You know – everything aligned. No piles. No boxes of random stuff. Just perfect.
So I would squirm when they’d open a closet only to be greeted by bags of who-knows-what scrunched up in a corner.
But now I just laugh when that happens. And I usually say something like, “it’s life.”
Reality check my friend.
I’m thatΒ real-life Organizer, remember?
I have kids and family. I entertain and I have hobbies. I might be more “on top” of stuff than maybe the average person, (whoever that is), but I’ve got plenty of clutter build up too.
Things just come in so fast. And it’s challenging to make decisions about what to keep and what to ditch. It’s what I call “clutter inflow vs. clutter outflow.”
So today I take you through a process where I ask myself TWO very important questions about each and every item that I have a hard time making a decision about.
I’m serious. It’s super powerful stuff and I really don’t want you to miss out on it.
So get your sweet self to my video and if you like what you see and hear, puh-lease leave me a thought about it. Here’s what I’d love to know:
- What’s an item that you’ve been on the fence about keeping or eliminating?Β
- How can either of the scenarios I walk you through, help you make your decision?
I’m uber excited to hear from you and I can’t thank you enough for all your support. I know your experience can help inspire others, so give this gift to someone else – by joining the conversation.
Sending lots of love and easy decision making vibes your way,
Mridu

Ask This And Get Rid Of Clutter
The Simplest Decluttering Technique
I like the thinking about the worse case lookout! I am going to be thinking that as I purge around!
Great idea! Can’t wait to try this out. I’mso bad about getting rid of clothes!!!!
What about the monogrammed purse or bag someone gave with my initial on it that I don’t ever use? Thank you for the great tips. I always look forward to my next challenge.
Awesome! Would love to hear how it goes Charu. π xo, mridu
Clothes are so hard for me too! But this strategy really has helped me out. Wishing you success too! xo, mridu π
Tina, it sounds like you’re not worried about “maybe using it in the future” – but more about having a sentimental attachment to that purse. I’m a HUGE fan of taking photos of items before letting go of that. That way you get a double benefit. You gain more space, time and energy when the item is not around but you always get to KEEP your memory of that item forever. Try it out and see how you feel. :)) xo, mridu
I’m going to give it a try. Great questions. Thank you.
Awesome Angela! Would love to hear how it goes for you. xo, mridu
Thanks!! This really works. I am downsizing my home in preparation for a move to a smaller one. I have been following your two steps and they’ve given me the freedom to donate or toss items I don’t want to pack. (Hope your Halloween was fun.)
Thanks for sharing that Karen! I’m so happy it’s working for you – especially in this period of transition for you. π
And btw, Halloween was awesome! π xo, mridu
Like Karen, I am moving to a smaller home. I have an accumulation from 36 years incl. three garages, basement, and attic. My daughter in law suggested taking a room at a time and heaping piles of toss, donate and keep. And a spreadsheet of furniture and clutter so my family can help me figure out what to do with all of it. Pray for me. π
I’m praying for you Elizabeth! π I think taking one room at a time is great advice. In fact, just one corner of a room at a time makes it less overwhelming. Moving is tough, period. So focus on small areas – but keep moving quickly. I hope this video helps you make decisions fast so you can keep moving from item to item. You can do this Elizabeth!! xo, mridu
Okay, will do this when I assess my closet
Most of my clutter is in my clothes. I keep hoping I’ll fit back into some of my outfits that I’ve outgrown:) I’ll use this strategy when purging my closet.
I like your pros and cons strategy to evaluating whether to toss or not. Many declutter tips stop with asking “What’s the worst thing that could happen?” Asking both questions will help radically reduce with my collection of recipes on paper – the paper files, printouts, clippings, and magazines. I hope to scan a few and get some breathing room.
Can you help me get rid of some things I need to get rid of alot.
Awesome! π xo,m
I think it will really help Jennifer. Thanks for sharing! xo, m
Love it Janet! Radically reducing papers….BEST.FEELING.EVER!! Good luck to you friend! xo, mridu
Colene, try asking yourself these questions with just ONE item at a time and see how it goes. Don’t think about all the things you need to get rid of. Just think about one item at a time. I know you can do this!! xo, mridu
I am going to hit the closet this weekend!!
This tip, like you, is brilliant!! Thank you so much!
Yes!! Love it Beverly. Hope you plow through it! π xo, m
Why thank you Boston! π xo,m
