How To Make The Time You Need

Spread the love

You may not know this about me, but this week marks my most fave holiday.

Yes, even more than Christmas, Thanksgiving or Diwali – I loves me Halloween!

I mean, what’s not to love.

Chocolate and candy bursting at the seams.

An opportunity to look like a complete idiot (if you’d like) – and get praised for it.

A chance to challenge your creativity.

I know that sounds nightmarish to some folks…but I LOVE it!

Now a few other things you might not know about me.

I can’t bake a cake. I can’t nurture a plant. But I love to make a good homemade costume.

And thank goodness my son relishes in this experience too. (I’ll post this years pics in a couple days on my FB page. I promise it’s a goodie).

But these costumes take time. Time to plan. Time to shop. And definitely time to make.

With my crazy hectic schedule, even I think, “how did I make the time to do that?'” Especially when I don’t have time to get to the gym or make dinner every night!

But that’s the interesting thing. We all make time for the things we want to make time for.

The truth is, we have a lot more time than we think. So it’s important for us to recognize that, and change our language to reflect it. The end result? We feel more empowered and, in control of, our time.

See exactly what I mean in today’s vid.

I’m trying really hard to make this change in my daily language and life. Do you think you can too?

Please join me in the comment box below and let me know. I’d really love to hear from you.

Thank you for your time.

And wishing you a ghoul-filled, candy-overdosed, belly laughing, however you like it, Happy Halloween!

With love and appreciation,
Mridu

Great idea. The only problem is i wont like to be reminded that i’m choosing that i dont have time to exercise because i choose to watch television!!?? HA! :-}

It’s funny you say that Karen, because since I’ve tried doing this, I realize how many excuses I make! It really has helped me recognize my priorities…(which is good and bad 😉 — but mostly really helpful to me in re-prioritizing stuff. Thanks so much for your message. xo, mridu

Quay

Huge point that you are making!
Hi Mridu,
Language is SO important.
“I’m GOING to do the laundry – not I HAVE to.”
“I’m OFFERING to drive my mother – not I HAVE to.”
and the big one –
“I’m a lot wiser than I used to be.”
or “I love being this age.”
or “This time in life is so much better than I expected.”
NOT the ubiquitous “I’m so old”. Boooorrrrrring.

And, you’re right. It feels a lot more powerful to say “I’m choosing to” or “I’m going to” rather than “I have to”.
So I’m re-teaching myself how to use better language.

Loved this video. There are certain days when there truly isn’t time when I am working 12 plus hour shifts. But even on those days I could do something with a spare 15 minutes. This helps me to realise that a “non choice” is still a choice.

Mridu

Um…could you teach me a course in this stuff?? Those were such awesome examples Quay! I’m taking notes. 😉

I especially love: “I love being this age.” Thank you my friend! xo, mridu

Mridu

I really like how you put that Terry. “A non-choice is a choice.” Thanks for sharing.
And so glad you enjoyed the vid and thanks so much for letting me know. xo, mridu

It is good to have these tips when we do not where to begin to take that time.
