The Three Most Important Areas Of Your Home To Keep Organized

Spread the love

Have you heard of the 80/20 principle (AKA, the 80-20 rule?)

That 80% of effects comes from 20% of the causes.

Like 80% of your sales come from 20% of your clients.

Or 80% of the clothes you wear comes from 20% of your wardrobe.

Or 80% of organization value comes from 20% of the blogs you read.
(Like how I snuck that one in there?) πŸ˜‰

I feel like this theory holds true for your home too.

Like 80% of your happiness comes from 20% of your home. So why not focus on this 20% before anything else?

If these areas are running smoothly, chances are they’ll have a greater impact on your day-to-day life than all your other spaces combined.

Which leads me to today’s vid on the three most important areas of your home to keep organized.

These areas make such a big difference in the flow of your home, your family and your day. And that’s the difference between feeling frustrated or feeling fabulous. (I’m all about fabulous!)

Once you’ve had a chance to watch, I’d love to hear from you.

In which one of the three spaces will you make changes first?

And of course, what other simplification tips do you have?

Amazing people come here every week and your comments inspire and motivate them. Hope to see you there!

To living simple and happy!

Xoxo,
Mridu

You are so right! – these three areas are definitely the areas that need attention in my home. I will make a point to make a start today! Thank you so much!!!

Today, the first place I will tackle is the office and ever-present paper piles which are all over the house. I grabbed a pile and found it contained photos and old Christmas cards; I have a better place for those things. Now–I have one less stack on a surface to deal with. It was a nice task to do on a rainy day in California.

This IS a nice task to get done. For some reason, dealing with papers gives me more joy than any other part of my home. Keep it up Janet! xo, mridu

loved this one- great 3 point approach, but did i miss your link to the how for office action papers?

Andrea

Awesome suggestions!!! You ROCK!!! I always seem to focus on the bedrooms…and then I stress out about deep cleaning the kitchen before company comes over. I am going to put your tips into action and make the kitchen cleaning a higher priority (we don’t store any paper there). As you know from our phone call, I am STILL working on my office – been shopping for new furniture πŸ™‚ Our master closet is not usually messy (I deep cleaned it two months ago), and is the least visited room in the house, so it can stay at the bottom of the totem pole for me πŸ™‚ Thanks Mridu!

Awesome Andrea! Love your enthusiasm and your plan. Sounds like you’ve been making a LOT of progress. Keep it up friend! I know you can do this! πŸ™‚ xo, m

The kitchen is my problem area however it has been better since I have my do, doing, done, files, and I have always believed that the rooms that people see if they stop in are my priority so yes, kitchen, but I also worry about the entrance since ours is small, living room which is pretty easy and main bathroom incase anyone needs to use it.

Kitchen is always hardest for me too. It’s the heart of the home, right? πŸ˜‰ So everything ends up here. So glad the filing system is working well. Papers seem to be the biggest challenge. Keep at it Angela. You’re doing great! And thanks so much for your message. xo,m

U get excited about paperwork frankly I don’t. I enjoy organizing most areas in the house but kinda dread this 1. So 4 that reason I am tackling this 1 with the idea of do the hardest 1 first at least 4 me that is. Can u give me some tips on how 2 get motivated about organizing paperwork and staying motivated? It is not the most exciting. Id rather clean the house than 2 fumble with papers. 4 me its a drag. Can u help me with another way of looking at it PLEASE? Btw will be checking u out on you tube 2 become a new subscriber. I subscribed to ur email mailing list and I enjoy ur videos, keep up the good work, lol.

I love the idea of working on the hardest challenge first. That way it’s over with. πŸ™‚ As far as getting motivated for paperwork (or any task one dreads) I’d say start with a daily ten minute timer. Seriously, just ten minutes. But you have to set a timer, not just look at the clock. I think you’ll be relieved to know it’s only ten minutes (so you will actually do it) and amazed about how much you’ll get done over a few days in such little time (which will motivate you to keep going). Let me know how it goes for you! And thanks so much for your support Jules!! Love that we’ve connected. xo, mridu
