3 Easy Steps To Conquer Your Clutter

Spread the love

How did I get so lucky?

Working with amazing women all the time, helping them to eliminate items that aren’t serving their goals, life or happiness – I witness the powerful effects of “letting go” on a daily basis.

Their ability to find a receipt or a bill on demand.
The look of relief and joy to see a half empty shelf.
The glow in their face from a smooth sailing morning.

All of this is possible with simple changes. Small acts of trashing envelopes, donating mismatched bowls and eliminating single socks, outdated magazines and worn out placemats.

It doesn’t take an HGTV overhaul to make you feel lighter and calmer.

It doesn’t take days and weeks to uplift your spirit or reignite your energy.

  • It can happen by clearing your keys bowl, overflowing with receipts.
  • It can happen by making space in your t-shirt drawer so it closes without fingers getting caught.
  • It can happen by getting rid of old meds so you don’t need your glasses for expiration dates.

I have an unfair advantage of hearing and seeing these powerful benefits which in turn, inspires me to do the same.

I hear that someone has offloaded three bags of clothes….and I’m running to my closet to pull out an ill-fitted shirt.

I see that someone has eliminated a barely used cupcake platter…and I can’t wait to rummage through my bakeware to get rid of something too.

I watch someone dispose of a pile of ratty towels…and I’m already envisioning which one of mine is ready to become a rag.

And so it goes.

I’m privy to the excitement and empowerment of decluttering on a regular basis — and so I’m inspired to add that energy and control to my life too.

And don’t even get me started on the uplifting treasures that are found.

:: The $50 gift card you forgot you had.
:: The earring you love and lost so long ago.
:: The photo of your mom on her honeymoon you thought was thrown out.

I know having less allows you to live more. I know it, because I live it every day.

And I’d love nothing more than for you to experience this same gift of LESS IS MORE.

“Stuff is not passive. Stuff wants your time, attention, allegiance. But you know it as well as I do, life is more important than the things we accumulate.”

-Dave Bruno

So please join me in this movement, to have less and live more.

And here’s my easy peasy 3-step process to make it pleasurable, simple and doable. (Which by the way, IS the recipe for success!)

Pleasurable: Put on your FAVORITE genre of music, CD, radio station or however you get your tunes that get you in a good mood. (This is a non-negotiable!)

Simple: Set your phone timer for 15 minutes. (Don’t have 15? Set it for 10!)

Doable: Go to one cluttered area (I’m talking a counter, bedside table, desk etc). Stay focused on this one space, don’t overthink and just start getting rid of things that can be eliminated or simply don’t belong here (If you’re thinking too long about an item, put it down and move onto the next. I’m sure you’ve got plenty more to deal with).

That’s it.

It’s a small but powerful step towards a smoother day, a less stressful moment and a positive attitude.

Through your small but consistent actions, YOU, my sweet friend, are part of a movement. A movement to empower women around the globe to live with more simplicity, courage and joy.

You are a change maker.

And for that, I am so thankful to be among your presence and be part of your tribe.

Don’t give up.

Remember, anything worth building takes time.

With love and appreciation,
XO,
Mridu
