How many times have you heard that you should focus on one thing to have a “more structured week?”
Like:
- Marketing on Mondays
- Strategy on Tuesdays
- Consults on Wednesdays
- Clients on Thursdays, etc.
And maybe like me, you’ve thought, “that’s nice in theory sweetie, but there is NO way that’s possible.”
Too many questions, issues, texts, emails, and circumstances pop up during the day.
You’re completely scattered and there’s no way you could focus on just one thing.
I totally get it. Believe me, I lived in reactive mode for years.
Until I finally figured out a couple of essentials to make this type of structure actually work. (Which btw, is as efficient and awesome as they say it is).
#1: I don’t focus my ENTIRE day on that theme.
Which means I’m not spending 9am-5pm on marketing on Mondays. Instead, it’s a main focus of the day. A signal to me to get an important marketing task done.
So it might only be two hours, 9am-11am, but I’ll be sure to focus on a marketing goal during that time. And the rest of the day? All other non-marketing related tasks.
#2: I hold off on tasks that pop up because I know I have a day scheduled for them.
For example, if a non-urgent finance question comes up on a Tuesday, I jot it down on my Friday list (which is my “Admin/Finance Day”).
So I can take care of it then, instead of immediately reacting.
Which is divine. And calming. And makes me feel like I’m the boss of my day.
Yes, these habits of awesomeness take a bit of practice.
But with these tweaks alone, I am wildly more organized and less scatterbrained. I get through my days with so much clarity and ease.
And most importantly, I feel like I’ve accomplished a ton each day and each week. Far more than when I was just reacting to everything all day long.
Now, here’s what I want you to know.
No matter how many projects, lists, tasks, team members, kids, commitments, activities, and deadlines in your biz and life, a more structured week is totally possible for you.
You CAN go from scatterbrained to “I got this!” no matter how many times you’ve tried and failed at structuring your time.
You CAN go from always reacting to intentional planning no matter how many demands are thrown at you.
You CAN go from stuck in the weeds to carving out time for strategic thinking no matter how many details you’re responsible for.
Growing a biz can be the most fulfilling thing in the world IF you set it up in a way that is truly in your control.
I’d love to see you get there. Wouldn’t you?
Xo,
Mridu
