Today I’m super psyched to share a strategy that has worked wonders for my clients – and for my own biz. For realz.
Before I get into it I want you to know that I’m expecting resistance. From YOU. Along the lines of, “oh my gawd – is she serious? I could never do that!”
But here’s the truth. You could.
You’ve just got to reset your brain a bit, be open minded and embrace the life-changing benefits this could have on your business. Oh, and also, you’ve got to put some tools in place to ensure its success – which I’ll get into in just a minute.
Ok, you ready for the blow-your-mind-away strategy?! Here’s goes.
I call it the “morning magnificence” technique.
You want to block your first one to two hours of the day for big work that moves your business forward.
Now there are a few specifics about what this entails. But let me start with what this is not time for.
This is not time for:
- checking email
- getting on social media
- responding to email or phone calls
- checking lots of tasks off your to-do lists
- getting distracted
- handling your team etc.
This IS time for important project work.
And although it’s important work – the kind that could potentially have the biggest impact on your business – it usually gets pushed to the end of the day – or the next day or the day after that. When you’re out of energy, are in a time crunch or aren’t able to put in the time and effort you wish you could.
Yeah, that stuff.
To be more specific, this is your high brain power time for tasks like:
- responding to an RFP
- working on a contract
- writing your blogs
- strategizing big picture concepts
- creating new products
- and working on pricing and packaging strategies
These are your “big rocks.”
And in order for you to see true success, this time must be non-negotiable, carved out first thing in the morning before your day gets eaten away with the barrage of emails, calls, emergencies and meetings.
Before you think this is impossible, here are three easy ways to ensure your magnificent morning success every day:
- Let your team know this is non-negotiable work time for you and only you. That unless the office is burning down, you don’t want to hear from them until 10:00 every morning.
- Set an email auto response that says you’ll be checking messages after 10am and will get back to people by the end of the day.
- Do the same with your voicemail. Change it to say you check your messages after noon and you’ll respond within 24 hours.
You CAN do this. And if you’re committed to getting the important things done, with excellence, and move your business forward faster than you ever have, you WILL do this.
You’ll be amazed how much you’ll get done with one to two hours of totally, 100% focused, uninterrupted time to work on your big rocks and big rocks only.
Ok, so no surprise what this week’s challenge is all about.
Get the tools in place that will help you make this a success.
- Let your team know about this non-negotiable time.
- Create email and voicemail responses that don’t allow interruptions and do set expectations for others.
- Turn off everything, and I mean every tab on your computer, except for the one big rock you’re working on.
- And most importantly, block out that time on your calendar every freakin day.
Then, let me know you did it so I can cheer you on like a rockstar. (I’ll be waiting for you in the comments).
Awesome! I’m so excited to see you and your biz skyrocket.
I believe in you, your business, and your gifts to change the world.
Go get ’em!
XO,
Mridu
