I recently told you that I’ve been taking control of my health.
I’m logging my food, nutritional info., and how I’m feeling.
I’ve discovered a ton about my moods, bloating, calorie intake, carb consumption and so much more.
All from two things:
1) Digging into the details
2) Getting truthful
Not gonna lie. Sometimes “the truth” is a little stressful.
Like how much sugar I was consuming.
Of course it was easier not knowing. But that just covered up the issues …and made me more sluggish.
“The truth” gave me a clear plan to feeling better.
I see women think this same way when it comes to their priorities and distractions.
They don’t dig into the details of their time because …well… it’s easier not to.
They continue to tell themselves that their lists and schedule will keep them on track.
Yet most days they’re not sticking to their plan and they end up feeling like a failure.
But the a-ha’s are in the details.
Managing your time takes more than writing a to-do list every day.
It’s estimating time for each step and creating a plan that actually works.
It’s about having realistic expectations, not just working off a checklist.
It’s not hard, but it does take some examining and refining.
And yes, when you plan accurately, it can be stressful to know you’ll get less done than you imagined.
I totally get it.
It’s easier to tell yourself you’ll get 15 things off your list instead of realistically planning for 5.
But it’s more even stressful when your results don’t match your expectations.
It’s defeating when you can’t complete what you thought you could do.
It’s overwhelming when you’re days, even weeks, behind where you should be.
Details matter.
Examining the details tells you why you got your past results. It guides you how to get better ones in the future.
With a little investigation (and truth bombs) you know where your time really goes and how to quickly tweak habits.
So you stop doing the same things and wonder why you don’t get different results.
So you disentangle the chaos in your brain and wake up with a “here’s how things are gonna go” plan.
It’s so much more fun than lists and time blocking you never stick to. It’s the way to get more focus and control.
When I don’t get the results I want, I don’t wonder why anymore.
I know the answers are in the details.
Do you?
