Drama keeps you in confusion. Period.
When you stress about things that haven’t happened yet, it is drama.
When you catastrophize projects in the future, it is drama.
When your mind reminds you of all the reasons things won’t work, it is drama.
Drama keeps you stuck and slows down your results.
You sabotage your thinking before you even get started.
This makes you procrastinate and shut down.
You shut down not because you aren’t smart.
You shut down not because you aren’t skilled.
You shut down not because you don’t have the right resources.
You shut down because of your self-defeating thoughts.
So, instead, focus on one next step. One action.
If you don’t know what that next step is or don’t know which next action to choose, do this.
Start from a place of curiosity. Question your stories. Doubt your beliefs.
Ask yourself:
- Really, is this the ONLY way?
- Could there be another outcome?
- Am I overcomplicating this?
- Is this really THE truth or am I standing in my own way?
- How can I make this simpler?
- How can I make it easier?
- Has anyone else ever done this before and gotten great results?
- What IF everything turned out fine?
We create a lot of mind drama and stories in our head.
If you want to be more successful, productive, and rewarded each day of this one life you have, be an observer of your drama.
But remember, it does not need or deserve a reaction.
Ride your initial emotions out for a bit.
Identify the reason you feel out of control or overwhelmed.
Get curious. Ask yourself good questions.
It’s often the difference between stalling and getting the results you want.
I get so much more into this on last week’s podcast: Drama Is Holding You Back.
And if you missed the last few episodes of awesomeness, here they are for you:
