Many of my clients are stressed by their long to-do list.
They’re frustrated they can’t get to the bottom of it.
What they don’t understand is that if the list ends, so does growth.
Without a list there would be no business. There would be no development.
To-dos, requests, and projects are all signs you’re valued and needed.
That’s why the goal is not to get to the bottom of your list.
The goal is to find a calm way to react, knowing demands will always be there.
Bombarded with emails, texts, IM’s, and other distractions, of course you’re scattered and overwhelmed.
Hello, brain overload!
The first step to more control is to empty your mind.
You can’t organize your thoughts until you can SEE them.
By getting tasks and to-dos out of your head, you free up brain space to focus and think more clearly.
Which is why you want to:
Commit to ONE place to capture ALL your to-dos.
And here’s the thing. There is no one right place.
It could be on Evernote, Asana, Monday, G-Tasks, Notion, Trello, a paper planner or loads of other places.
It doesn’t matter.
There is only one system that works.
It’s the system you’ll use.
Technology is NOT holding you back from staying on top of your tasks.
It’s your habits.
Without the habit of getting ALL your thoughts in ONE place, you will stay scattered.
Things will fall through the cracks.
You will waste time and energy thinking about your next step.
Make a commitment to one place.
Not sticky notes AND planners AND notebooks AND notepads AND apps AND list-makers AND project management tools.
It’s too much.
ONE place. All. The. Time.
You will make better decisions.
You will strengthen your creativity.
You will become a better problem-solver.
You will be more focused and in control.
Your long lists are not the problem.
How you handle them is.
