You know what makes doing more with less stress possible?
Your attitude.
It’s a real thang.
Your way of thinking or feeling affects your behavior. Which means your attitude will be the difference between:
- procrastinating or taking action
- moving forward or staying in place
- feeling like a winner or a failure
But, when you’re exhausted, scattered, and overwhelmed, your attitude can be the first thing to take a turn for the worst.
That’s why you want to rely on your very helpful friends, your thoughts.
Yup, those sweet voices from your head – that you have more control over than you think.
You simply have to make one small shift.
Move from “I have to” to “I get to.”
Instead of thinking about all the things you have to do, (that feels heavy and adds more to your overflowing plate), shift those draining thoughts to “I get to.”
“I get to contribute /add value / help someone / make my life better / take care of my family / etc.”
I know, I know…you don’t end the day thinking…
“How lucky am I!! I get to do a sink full of dishes. I’ve hit the jackpot!”
But…you can make it less daunting by changing your thoughts from:
“I can’t believe I have to do all these dishes!”
To: “I get to do this now so I go to bed with less anxiety and wake up with a cleared sink.”
Or when you think:
“I can’t believe I have to make dinner.”
Change it to:
“I get to give my family something nutritious instead of them putting crap in their body.”
Or when you think:
“This sucks. I have to pay the bills.”
Change it to:
“I get to pay the bills so we can make more memories in this house and drive our cars.”
Or when you think:
“Ugh…I have to exercise.”
Change it to:
“I get to take care of my body and mind so I’m not a snarky pants at work / a meanie mom at home.”
Or when you think:
“I have to finish my emails.”
Change it to:
“I get to put these emails to bed so I can do a good job and make money.”
When you change your thoughts and feelings from something that’s an obligation to something that’s an opportunity it can remind you there’s potential benefit in every situation.
Which also means you’ll get more done in a better mood.
Which will make you a kinder, more relaxed, more fun to be around, healthier and happier mama, boss, wife, sis, friend, daughter, worker and bestie.
So, my sweet, try this simple yet powerful shift on for size.
