The Single Greatest Tool To Squash Overwhelm

You know when you wake up in the morning and all the nonsense gets thrown at you before you even get your coffee down?

  • Client issues already??
  • How many times can my mom text me?
  • Why can no one find their shoes (not to mention the keys)?
  • Who’s turn was it to walk the dog??

Kinda makes you wanna do this.

This is definitely not the time to plan out your day, right?

Wrong!

Planning is most needed at the most counterintuitive time.

Which is precisely when you feel like you have “no time.”

You feel this way because you’re reacting to the demands, requests, dings, beeps, chirps, and needs of everyone else.

And without taking a few moments to plan your next few steps, actions, and hours, you’ll continue to operate this way. All. Day. Long.

Underestimating how much is on your plate while overestimating how much you’ll actually get done.

Pulled in twenty directions, stretched too thin, unable to really do anything well.

It’s in the moments of greatest chaos and scatteredness that we must pull ourselves out of the frenzy, and invest time to plan.

That means getting thoughts out of your noggin and onto paper like:

  • What are your top priorities for the day? (Btw, I’m not talking just work…but exercise, relationships, errands, and meals).
  • When will you fit them in?
  • What do you need to do to prepare?

Planning is the single greatest tool to squash overwhelm.

It puts into perspective where to put your time and energy and where to NOT invest your precious resources.

Yes, especially, when there’s no time.

It’s this investment of time that will give you time back.

Put a little time in, get a lot of time out.

Sounds pretty good to me. How about you?

Now, time to map out the rest of my day. I don’t want you to think I’m drinking all day. I rarely start before 1pm. 😜
