New year, new resolutions, new you! 🙂
Well…not so fast.
I’m all about updating goals, up leveling your game and raising your bar but…there’s a good chance you have some loose ends to tie up from 2016 first.
I like to take the first week or two of the year to ensure I’ve closed the loop on my December (or older) services, programs or just general business.
Things like,
- outstanding invoices (to collect or pay)
- follow up with prospects or clients
- update finances for 2016
- email or send any deliverables you promised
- tally and review your 2016 results
- do a brain dump of what worked and what didn’t
You know if you don’t take care of this stuff now, it will liiiiinger.
Sometimes for weeks and sometimes for months. Or in some cases it won’t happen at all, which is no way to set yourself up for success.
Ensure a productive 2017 by bringing closure to 2016.
You’ll then have the head space and clarity to create precise, effective goals without any lingering feelings of “I should have done that.”
So dedicate this next week to tying up, closing down, and putting into review so you can set things up, plan them forward, and ramp ’em up this year.
Here’s to getting more of the right things done!
Xo,
Mridu
You spoke at the Williamson Co. Chamber’s “Women in Business” luncheon today and WOW! THANK YOU!!! What a fantastic way to start the new year… FOCUSED! I went back to the office and #1 Cleared my desk, #2 Turned OFF my phone, #3 Turned off the Tabs on my computer, and #4 Set the timer for 25 minutes. Then, as directed, took a 5 minute break, and started the process over. The “fruit” of my labor? 3 cycles of concentrated work “flow” before doing cartwheels, and jumping for joy! I commit today (as challenged) to 1. Eliminate distractions, 2. Prioritize a “power hour,’ and 3. Time block my day (“take 5 minutes tonight to plan your day tomorrow. I look forward letting you know by Friday (3 days) how it’s going. Thank you for a truly impactful “Power Lunch!” You made life a little better today!
Jean, I’m SO excited for you! I’m jumping for joy just reading this. FABULOUS job friend. I’m thrilled you’ve already seen an increase in your productivity and CAN NOT wait to hear more from you on Friday. Keep up your focus! Amazing results are headed your way. 🙂 XO,
Mridu
