Do You Have Too Much On Your Plate?

Do you have too much on your plate.

Too many commitments?
Too many projects?
Too many responsibilities?

Too many, too many, too many.

When you take on too much, when you’re too stretched, when you say yes to too many things…you lose.

You lose time, focus and most importantly – you lose your sanity. (And nobody likes to hang out with the crazy person).

Wanna know the secret to getting things off your plate?

You have GOT to take control of your time. Cuz the truth is, if you don’t, someone or something else WILL.

Here are a few things you can do:
: Delegate
: Say NO when necessary
: Create boundaries
: Stand up for yourself
: Communicate clearly
: Don’t try to do six things at one time

What skill do you need to get good at to get things off your plate?

If you’re thinking: “all of them” — here’s the good news.

You only need to choose one. Just one that resonates with you most right now, like:

Stand in front of the mirror and practice saying: “This is not a good time for me right now.” Or “I have another commitment.” Or simply, the most effective yet underrated response: “No, thank you.” (Say no when necessary).

Or practice putting away the phone, shutting down email and focusing at one task at hand for thirty minutes. (Don’t try to do six things at once).

Or practice creating a purpose and an agenda for each and every meeting you schedule. (Communicate clearly).

Or hire someone to wash and fold your laundry. (Delegate)

Pick one, just one, and go gangbusters on it this week.

Because when you have too much on your plate there’s no room for dessert. Or in your case, other good stuff you deserve – like feet up on the couch, snuggles with your kids and reruns of Seinfeld.

What skill will you work at to get things off your plate?

I’ll be waiting to hear from you in the comments below.

Here’s to getting more of the right things done!
