the hardest thing to get and easiest to lose

My clients always know I’m there for them.

How?

Because I tell them.

At the end of each call I remind them they can call, text, or email me if they’re feeling stuck between sessions.

This type of support is out of the ordinary for most coaches.

But I offer it for one very important reason.

Momentum.

Momentum is the process of movement.

Continuous movement gets you closer to your goals.

Even if you move a few steps backwards, and then go sideways, eventually you’ll move forward.

Momentum is different than motivation.

Motivation is your spark of inspiration to do a thing. (It’s the start).

Momentum is a force created by a sequence of things. (It’s the continuation).

Like when you finally put on your workout clothes, (motivation), which leads you to your treadmill, which leads to an incline, which leads to a run, which leads to weights, which leads to the mat, and before you know it, you’ve had a full-body workout. (momentum)

But here’s the tricky thing about it.

Momentum is the hardest thing to get and the easiest thing to lose.

You may finally dive into dealing with that client issue.

But if you hit a roadblock, you need to find motivation all over again to jump back in later. And kiss momentum buh-bye.

Here’s a simple way to keep it going.

Take one small baby action. The easiest thing. The lowest hanging fruit.

Make a call. File a paper. Watch a video. Buy the organizer. Take out the stamps.

Do a small thing. Don’t think about anything else. Focus on the starting, not on the ending.

When that’s done, pick your next small action. Rinse and repeat.

You won’t have to keep thinking of the next action because momentum will have kicked in.

To make it less daunting, pick a time limit to work on your action.

Like actually get a timer, set it to 10, and do the thing.

You will drastically reduce dread and fear.

Ten minutes, that’s it, NEXT!

Momentum is the energy of a few small steps that forms big results.

You’ll make more progress when you tap into it.

You’ll feel more rewarded when you create it.

You’ll be more efficient and energized when you develop it.

That’s why I’ll keep being there for my clients whenever they need me.

How will you build momentum?
