How To Safeguard Your Documents

In light of all the recent natural disasters, (these tornadoes are mind blowing), I thought I’d share some thoughts on document safety. You probably have a filing system of some sort in your home. In our filing cabinet I keep a folder for everything including “passports”, “birth certificates” and “marriage certificates”. (Oops, sorry honey, I mean “marriage certificate” (singular) 😉

Anyway, they are now in one single file labeled “Important Documents” that sits in the very front of the cabinet. In case of a fire or any other disaster I know I won’t have the time or the mental capacity to locate the critical files. It gives me peace of mind to know that after grabbing my kids, I only have one folder to grab too.

If you don’t have a filing cabinet or system, designate another area for your “important document” file and make it known to all the adults in your household.

thanks! What about kids certificates, report cards, test scores. I just started my binder with those transparent sheets. Any other ideas?
