Teach Your Kids To Let Go

Spread the love

I was an addict.

Couldn’t even think about engaging in a conversation until I had my morning dose of caffeine.

But I’m patting myself on the back as it’s been one month since I’ve given it up. No more sumatra blends, fresh roast or mocha java.

I’m not gonna lie. The first week was brutal.

I walked around in a foggy daze and combatted headaches with tea (I needed some caffeine in the transition). But now I feel great and don’t even crave coffee which is seriously crazy to me!

Habits. Why are they are so easy to form and so hard to break?!

My hubby and I are obsessed with teaching our kids good habits, beyond the typical, say “thank you” and “please”.

Like doing homework on the desk, (not couch), and showering every morning, (not night), so they’re more awake during school.

We’ve also reinforced “clean up” as part of daily routine and doing regular “clean outs” of their stuff.

Now when I show up to their room with a black trash bag, they say “is it time to get rid of stuff?” (I secretly pat myself on the back…again).

Instilling these habits in your kids, no matter what age, will not only become a natural part of their life but will also help them make decisions as they grow.

Not worrying about how to eliminate stuff that’s not purposeful will help them lead a less cluttered mental and emotional life.

There’s already plenty of added stress in their life. So why not help by giving them the tools to succeed at an early age?

Be sure to check out today’s video to see three awesome ideas on how to do this.

Plus I’ll give you the exact script of what to say when they have a tough time letting go.

And let me know what “house rules” you could put in place to help your kids form good organizing habits. Some of the best ideas are exchanged down there in the comments.

Thank you so much for your time and support each and every week. It really means the world to me.
