What You Shouldn’t Do When You Organize

Spread the love

Today’s topic is about something I see a lot of my clients struggle with: What type of bins and containers to buy.

I usually work with clients to lay out priorities, come up with a game plan and take action on a project.

But when it comes down to shopping, some people opt to fly solo and then unfortunately, find themselves stuck. And it’s no surprise when stores have aisles and aisles dedicated to organization solutions.

All those options keep you grappling with questions like:

What size do I really need? How much will fit into this? Do I needs bins that will stack? What color should I get?

What’s a girl to do??

Check out my easy, and maybe surprising, recommendation to deal with this issue – in today’s video.

And I think you’re gonna love this week’s challenge. You might find some hidden “treasures” as you scour your cabinets and closets.

Please let me know what you’ve uncovered and how you’re planning to use your at-home organizing solution.

I can’t wait to hear from you!

Sending positive vibes your way,

I need you to come and organize my house for me! Your ideas are great, I just wish I had more time.

The flip side of this is that once you find better containers that really work, they are worth every penny! I have some baskets that fit my sheets with easy access that I’ve used for over 30 years that I still feel were the best investment I could have made for my linen closet. They have worked in 3 different houses too and for 4 sizes of sheets.

Time is a hard one! 🙂 So many things to do! Here’s a suggestion. Once a month, decide on your top 5 priorities for that month. Maybe March isn’t a good month for you to focus on organization but you can let go of something else in April and be sure to carve in time for simplifying your life then. Life is always changing, as are your priorities. But putting a stake in the ground every few weeks has really helped me. Hope that helps Charu! xo, Mridu

Couldn’t agree more Betty! I too have some baskets that have served me really well, for many years. But if figuring out which ones are going to work best is a source of anxiety or stress, start with simple stuff you have at home BEFORE buying your permanent solutions. Thanks so much for the sheets tip. Great idea to use baskets in the linen closet. 🙂 xo, Mridu

I like your videos, they always inspire me to at least do one corner or cabinet or closet in the house. Thanks Mridu!
