5 Powerful Reasons I’ve Simplified

Spread the love

Although it’s not even August, it feels like summer is up in the Parikh household. The boys are back in school on Monday (I know, crazypants!) Maybe it’s not so bad considering it’s a steady 100 degrees these days – and not much fun being outside anyway. (Talk about overheating!)

So today I have a little surprise for you (which hopefully I’ll continue to do every now and then).

I wrote a looooong blog for you this week. But after I was done I felt like the message was so important, I made a video about it for you. Because it sums up my entire journey over the last ten years.

If you’ve been with me for a while, you know I’ve been on a path of simplification in my home, life ad biz (not to mention my relationships with things and people).

And today I want to share with you the powerful benefits streamlining has had on my life. I’ll be honest, it was a little strange thinking about it.

Weird realizing how much my thinking has transformed. How much easier it is for me to let go of things. How much more freedom I feel in different areas of my life. How much kinder I am to myself (letting go of self-inflicted stress and sabotage).

Now don’t get me wrong. Everyday isn’t a breeze.

I still have a hard time making some decisions. I still have to remind myself of my goals all. the. time. I still don’t always make the best choices the first time around but…

I’m getting better.

And I think that’s really how we should judge ourselves. Not on the number of mistakes or poor choices we make – but on our ability to be introspective and improve. Just a little bit at a time. Baby steps.

When you’re done watching today’s vid, I’d love to hear if any of these benefits hit home with you. Or maybe you’ve seen a change in your life in an entirely different way?

Either way, I’d love to hear about it. Please join me in a conversation in the comments below.

Remember, simplifying isn’t taking away. But keeping the things, people and space in your life that bring you joy, closer to your goals and make you truly, deeply happy.

Those are not necessarily easy things to define, but I know you can do it if you sit quietly and let your heart guide you.

To your happiness!

Xoxo,
Mridu

Thank you for sharing this great video. I can seriously feel your good energy hit me:). I would like to go through my kitchen cabinets and store only the items I use on an everyday basis on the lower shelves. This will allow me to not feel frustrated when it comes time to prepare a meal and will allow my meal to be one made of love:)

You go girl! Keep the things you need, use and love. The others? Let someone else benefit from them. Btw, can’t wait to try a meal next time I come to NY. 🙂 xo, m

The giving part really spoke to me. I have gained weight and hoped to lose it but I have nice clothes that someone could use now. If I lose weight I’ll replace it and between some will have benefited.

Ruth, I’ve struggled with the same thing for SO long. I’ve finally let go of my clothes that don’t fit and I feel so much weight (yes, pun intended), off my shoulders. 😉 I totally agree with you. When you lose weight, treat yourself to some new stuff that you love. And in the mean time, let someone else enjoy your abundance. Keep up the positive attitude friend! xo, Mridu

Hey Miridu
Just wanted to share a big accomplishment. I have been working on going through pictures and grouping them by people and places. it was a bigger project than I thought. I got overwhelmed. Today I have finished doing it and getting them back in fold with each person’s name and in drawers labeled pictures. Scrapbooks are in a basket where I can find them.
I feel a lot of JOY and freedom of accomplishment.
