My hubby and I just seriously purged our closet to make room for our newly bought spring collection. 🙂 But after spending all that time and effort we were exhausted, making the hardest part of the job… getting our clothes OUT of the house. Sound familiar?
And I bet, like us, you have all these great ideas of awesome people and organizations that could use your ready-to-be-parted-with stuff. So you start separating items accordingly and planning where you’re going to take everything. Only to find several weeks later, the stuff is still in your house! UGH!! What to do! Your Grandmother is right! I needed this kick in the rear. I’ve had clothes piled to give away to my niece but it is just the same if I am helping another family in need-plus it’s a tax right off! Thanks for the motivation!
I was saving my kids things for when one of my friends had a boy in the Fall (so the clothes would fit right). Seriously! Two years later I was still taking up half of a very valuable closet for these things…just waiting for the right birth to occur. What a relief when I finally donated to Goodwill and moved on with my life…and got my closet back! Glad this helped you too Shibani! xo, Mridu
Perfect timing… I need to purge my closet of maternity clothes this weekend, and, more importantly, burn all those size 2 clothes that Ive been holding onto for the past 5 years. I mean, Ill be taking them to Goodwill;) Thanks for reminding & inspiring me to do that!

Such Good advice – I will definitely not overthink this anymore – there’s a Goodwill a block from me and they will get things as I do my spring cleaning. And the trick to leave the stuff by the front door definitely helps – I used to put then in the hall closet until I got around to donati h and they’d stay there FOREVER!!!
I used to do the same (put things in the guest closet) until we had guests and I had to haul everything out in a hurry! Now I love just getting things out as I need to, instead of letting them pile up. You..Me…on the same page 🙂

Girlfriend, honestly its the best time to purge…I somehow get a lot less motivated in the summer heat. Plus, a great time to change over clothes. 🙂 Good for you for getting down to it!
