In our hectic family life I find myself returning things almost as often as I buy them! I don’t always have time to try on clothes at the store or find the exact shade of grey socks my son has asked for, so back to Macy’s or Target they go. So where do I put all those returns until I’m ready to make the trip?
Mostly on the passenger seat of my car (if they fit) or in my trunk. Immediately. As soon as I know an item has to be returned it goes in my car. That way I will be:
- Reminded to return it (as it is literally beside me)
- Motivated to return it as I need the room for other things like groceries…and kids 🙂
- Thankful that I did not find it three months later at the back of my closet when returns are no longer accepted
Also, to avoid “senior moments” I do the same with the dry cleaning, library books, movies or packages to mail. I put them on the passenger seat, not on the kitchen counter, where they are likely to be forgotten.
Try this out. I promise it will help you stay organized! 🙂
Love this concept! Do you have any advice for city folk who don’t own cars?
Leave a basket by your door for your returns so you’re reminded to take them out as you leave. 🙂
