The Age-Old Strategy That Saves Money and Eliminates Clutter

Spread the love

Back from vacation and back to reality.  Ever notice how it takes just as many days to catch up as the number of days you were away?!  As soon as we got back from vacay I was busy planning our baby’s birthday.  Well, not really a baby anymore.  Six years old!  I know, ridiculous!

A couple years ago we went to a friends house who did a “toy swap” in lieu of gifts at their sons birthday, and we’ve adopted the idea with our kids ever since.  It’s an awesome way to clear the clutter (while teaching the kids a good lesson about giving and receiving).  And it got me thinking about swapping stuff.

Check out my video to see how one of this age-old strategy can literally help you save tons of cash and plenty of stash.

I can’t wait to see you in the comments.  Watch my short video and please let me know what items you think would be great for swapping.

Love you and so glad to be back home.

It is so funny that you did this topic. I was just cleaning out my closet (a really need project) and I have so many beautiful things that someone else might love that I dont wear or cant wear. I would love to host a party with woman trading clothes or other things they dont want any more…excepts kids or husbands I have just the right amount of both. Let me know your thoughts.

Girlfriend, you know I’d LOVE to get into your closet! 😉 Seriously, I think it’s a great idea. I know you recently said that you had a great dress but the color just wouldn’t look right on your skin. You know that would be a great item to swap! And how much better would you feel if a friend of yours could use vs. a drop off center? Love it. I’ll look out for an invitation 😉

I’m with you sister! I think it’s a sign of maturity! Thanks for sharing, xoxo,

I have always thought a toy/book co-op would be a fantastic idea! We spend so much through each phase of our childrens development and they air waiting for the next yard sale. What a great idea. My 13 year old has learned the skill of barter with his friends and initially I was opposed to it, but I have come to find that he “grows out” of his things and Id rather see him swap so both parties have something new
than watch the item sit in the corner collecting dust. BRAVO.

Wow!! Absolutely LOVE that idea!! I end up taking our books to a “book consignment shop” but the idea of bartering is even more appealing. Thank you for that great suggestion!
