Put The Kibosh On This Type Of Clutter

Spread the love

Can you relate?

You have a million things to get done. Everyone’s counting on you for their next meal, clean clothes, and of course, to find what they’re looking for in the house (even though they’re the ones who left it there!)

The weekend comes around and instead of being able to put your feet up and have a margarita, it’s time to run errands, get laundry done and check off a dozen other things from your list.

So you do what you always do.

Rise to the occasion, get stuff done and make it look easy along the way.

And one of your many stops of the day is at the pharmacy, grocery store or Target.

But instead of coming home with the couple things you forgot to pick up last time you were there, you’re unloading a trunk full of stuff.

Whoa! How did THAT happen?

Don’t worry. You’re not alone. Happens to the best of us. 😉

But, it may be time for you to step back and ask yourself:
“Am I the one responsible for a lot of the clutter in my house?

Lucky for you, that’s exactly what I’m covering in today’s quick vid. 😉

This seemingly harmless habit has a big impact on what comes into your home ALL. THE. TIME.

Once you’ve had a chance to watch, I’d love to know…

Is this an issue you struggle with? If so, where’s the next place you’ll commit to taking a list?

I plan on going to the grocery store as my next shopping trip. I have been making it a point to go WITH a list. I even break it out and give lists to my kids to keep them busy looking for what IS ON my list rather than busy looking at what they want. The list is totally worth the extra effort beforehand because it saves me from a major headache IN the store trying to come up with dinner items and what I may or may not need.

LOVE every word Jennifer! Thanks for sharing your experience and for the great advice on how to efficiently and effectively get through the grocery store – WITHOUT bringing home clutter. You rock! xo, mridu

Making a list before going shopping definitely helps to stay on focus. BUT… we love to browse new things at the store! That part is entertainment and retail therapy. I think having less people going to the store is a good way of buying less things as well. Recently I was happy hubby went with me to Costco and I had not been there for a few weeks (another record) and we came out spending more money than usual! Luckily we bought things that we desperately needed to replenish or stock up what we had ran out. I went with a list to keep me focused!

I always make a list, but sometimes I’m in such a rush to get out the door with two kids….I wind up leaving it on the kitchen counter! Lol (yup…nut’n in my noggin). When I do remember the list I still have trouble staying on track and impulse shop! We are renovating my kitchen and I had a list of items that I needed to purchase with measurements, colors, how many…EVERYTHING! Got everything on the list…and STILL left the Home Depot with 4 bags of mulch and a strawberry plant!! What gives! I didn’t even have the kids with me!! Ughhhh. I feel like my 7 yr old when he has a fresh, crisp new $5 bill….it has to be spent IMMEDIATELY!!! Lol. This process of changing how I shop is going to take some time I can already tell. Thanks for the tips! I love all of ur vids especially the bloopers!

Hey Angela, you are so right. This. Is. A. Process. 🙂 But the fact that you typically have a list with you is great! Now sticking to it…that will take some practice. Remember to take the extra one minute before putting an item in your cart to ask yourself: “Do I really need this…right now?” Being intentional is a practice…doesn’t happen overnight. But as you use this muscle more regularly, it will become a habit. As for leaving the list on the counter, been there, done that. 😉 I try to keep as many lists as I can on my phone bc I know I’m not leaving home without it! Keep it sweet friend! You’re doing awesome. And thank you so much for the kind words. With so much love, Mridu
